Preparing for the Exam
Click HERE to go through all the steps to get ready for your exam. You should watch the video tour, complete the checklist, use the demo, and know where to find your e-ticket.
E-Ticket
You will need this if you are going to take the exam. If you cannot find it in your email account (the one that you confirmed with the College Board) then log into your College Board account. You should find it there. You will see the test date and AP ID number above a yellow button. You will click that yellow button at 12:30 pm on Friday, May 15th.
Exam
Make sure to use your e-ticket to log into the exam at 12:30 pm. You will need to answer relevant questions before the exam starts at 1:00 pm. Do NOT refresh your browser or press the back button. Make sure you are using a compatible browser and that it is up-to-date. Also, turn off “Grammarly” if that plug-in is in your browser.
If you are typing your essay, make sure you are using Google Docs or MS Word. Make sure that you have your AP ID number and initials at the top of each page. You have to decide if you will copy and paste or upload your typed essay as a separate document. If uploading, make sure the typed essay is saved as an appropriate file type (ex. PDF). Also, make sure to type the certification statement EXACTLY as it is written.
If you are handwriting your essay, use #2 pencil or blue/black pen. Make sure that each page has your AP ID and initials on the top left and page number on the top right. You will only be able to submit a max of five pages. Make sure that you are taking photos of your written essay in vertical orientation and that those photos are saved as .jpeg’s. Also, if you are using an iPhone make sure to turn off “live.”
Make sure to keep the exam timer visible at all times. You should have 45 minutes to analyze and write your DBQ essay. At the 5 minute mark, the timer will turn red and you are to submit your work. Even if it is not finished, you should still submit your work at the 5 minute mark.
Requesting a Re-Test
If you are unable to submit your work, or lost connection to the exam, then College Board wants you to request a re-test as soon as possible. You can click HERE to submit your request.
Q&A
If you missed the Zoom session (where we went over the procedures for the exam, the rubric, materials, etc.), then you find the recording HERE.
You CAN do this! Get everything prepared today, get some rest tonight, and get a good breakfast tomorrow morning. Good luck!
