Beginning this Monday, we will be reviewing for the modified 2020 APUSH exam. Here is the schedule:
Content Review
On Monday’s, we will be doing Content Review. There will be scheduled Zoom sessions from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The outlines that I will be following can be found under APUSH Review, James L. Smith’s Study Guides. For students who miss these sessions, I will make the video available afterwards.
DBQ Practice
On Tuesday’s, we will be doing DBQs together. There will be scheduled Zoom sessions from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. I will be posting the DBQs on Tuesday mornings. Make sure to have the Modified DBQ Rubric and the DBQ worksheet, found under APUSH Review, prior to our practice sessions. In these sessions, we will have timed analysis of documents, break down prompts, and construct both thesis statements and outlines. This should help all of you with the biggest hurtle this year: the time crunch. And again, if anyone misses these sessions, I will make the video available afterwards.
Review Quizzes
Every Thursday, all of you will have to complete a Review Quiz on McGraw-Hill Connect. These are going to correspond to a lot of the information we are covering every Monday. The Review Quizzes will be open from 8:00 am and will automatically close by 7:00 pm. Once started, you will only have 45 minutes to complete the quiz.
To Be Determined
The College Board has not yet made available tutorials for the online exam process. When we learn more, I will make future announcements and likely schedule Zoom sessions to review that information with you all.
Advice
It is crucial that all of you seriously begin to think about preparing for this new testing environment. Consider whether you will write everything out by hand or will be typing your essay. Make sure that you know how you can enable split windows on the devices you plan to use on the day of the exam. Also, think about distractions, wifi connectivity, charged batteries, etc. And most importantly, you need to start timing yourself and abiding by the clock. This is the single greatest problem that is unavoidable on the day of the AP exam.
